Cars tells the story of Lightning McQueen’s rookie season. As a young, quick racing car, Lightning McQueen takes the Piston Cup series by storm. The last race of the series ends in a three-way tie which is where the story begins. On the way to the tie-breaker race in California, Lightning McQueen loses his way off the historic Route 66 in the Southwest desert and finds himself in a small town, Radiator Springs.

It is here that Lightning McQueen’s plight is changed with the help of former big-city lawyer Sally Carrera, the town’s patriarch Doc Hudson, and kooky tow truck Mater. By the time Lightning McQueen got out of Radiator Springs, he had made new friends, and learned there’s more to life than winning.
